It is a reality that our bodies are horribly material, they are the ultimate reminder of our own death and of bestiality. In Matisklo Bosse Provoost, in collaboration with Max Pairon, gives expression to creatures that cannot be called human or animal, living or dead, by making bodies from materials like wood, paper and aluminium. In his poems the poet Paul Celan also explores a world that is beyond man and language. Only when what we regard as the obvious ‘human’ elements are removed is it possible to truly reflect on what ‘being human’ means.
Matisklo will be premièred at the Bourla theatre on 14 November. Rehearsals will take place at De Brakke Grond, Amsterdam over the next two weeks.
